Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Preheat a large skillet on the stovetop as well. I used a cast-iron skillet as it will be put in the oven in a later step and needs to be oven safe. If you don't have an oven safe skillet you can pour everything in a baking dish. Add a tablespoon of olive oil and diced onions. Sauté until softened. Next add in ground beef cooking until no longer pink. Drain any excess fat. Cook bacon. I cook my bacon on a baking sheet in the oven turning it frequently at 400 degrees until golden brown, chop and set aside. I also sometimes cook the bacon the night before. You can cook it on the stovetop or oven, whichever you prefer.

Add chopped cooked bacon, 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, 2 teaspoons of powdered mustard, 1/3 cup of brown sugar, 1/4 cup barbeque sauce, 1/4 cup of catsup, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Stir until combined.

Next add in pork and beans, drained kidney beans and drained butter beans. Stir until combined.

Bring the Calico beans to a bubbly boil then put them in the oven. Bake them for 30-40 minutes until they have thickened to desired consistency. Allow them to cool for 15 minutes before serving.
